I wanted to get an early start on sharing Christmas ideas on the blog this year to give you guys plenty of time to get supplies and try one of my favorite fun holiday projects (or two!). I thought I would kick things off by sharing a few of my most popular Christmas DIY and holiday decorating projects from years past. All the projects are linked to the tutorial.
Let’s jump in!
DIY Ornaments
If you’ve been following me for a few years, you’ve probably noticed that I have a slight obsession with painting/pouring marbleized ornaments. It’s one of those fun addicting craft projects that is instant gratification seeing such gorgeous results immediately and playing with different color combinations. This is a GREAT girl’s night out craft project if you’re looking for fun ideas!
Last year, I made these stunning marble pour ornaments that you pour over the outside of a clear glass ornaments. This project is really fun to do and again, you can do any color combination.
Two years ago, I did the marbleized ornaments where you pour INSIDE ornaments and that is a fun project as well with completely different (more subtle) results.
Also last year (in that same post), I shared some hand painting ornament ideas and tutorial.
Many years ago, I shared how to create monogramed Christmas ornaments using large and small rhinestone sticker letters and I still make these today for gifts.
I also shared a post a couple years ago about how to refresh old ornaments and Christmas decor with paint if you’re looking for ways to upcycle ornaments. For example, this beautiful large tinsel ornament below use to be BRIGHT green and I sprayed it gold!
Past Christmas Home Tours
(follow the links below for the full home tour)
Last year’s Christmas home tour has been one of my favorites! I shared our outdoor pool/house kitchen all decked out for Christmas! We live in East Texas, so the the holidays is when our weather is perfect for being outside.
My 2018 Christmas home tour was a special one! I spent weeks decorating my next door neighbor’s gorgeous modern farmhouse for the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Parade of Homes and shared it as my Christmas home tour for that year. It’s one of my. all-time favorite holiday tours.
For 2016, I shared my home and that year, I decorated with a lot of fresh greenery, which is one of my favorite things to do for the holidays.
Christmas Tabletop TreesÂ
I LOVE decorating tabletop trees for Christmas! I use them on entryway tables, centerpieces on dining tables and pretty much any place I can find a surface. Below are a few of my favorites.
Full Size Christmas Trees
My all-time favorite Christmas tree was the gorgeous large white flocked tree we did for the 2019 CASA Christmas Parade of Homes below. This tree was so beautiful!
Another favorite tree was the one I did in 2016 that I mixed in real eucalyptus, magnolia and other fresh greenery.
Christmas Tree Cones
If you’ve followed me for awhile, I’m sure you know all about my obsession with making fabric covered poster board Christmas tree cones! I started making them about 9 years ago after I saw some very expensive ones at Neiman Marcus.
I had so many requests for templates for the poster board tree cones that I spent about 6 weeks designing templates and an ebook that I made available here that is an immediate PDF download.
I hope you guys see a project or an idea here from my past projects that you might try this Christmas. I have a lot of Christmas projects that I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks. I have already started decorating Layered Home for Christmas and I can’t wait to share that with you! If you want to see sneak peeks of what we’re doing, you can follow along on Instagram here.
Thanks for stopping by today friends and cheers to a wonderful holiday season!
Cheers!

No! No bah humbug! I hope that something here inspired you today to get in the holiday spirit! It’s been a rough year and maybe some twinkly lights will help! Thanks for your note! 🙂

Hi, Cyndy! I love your creations… and you have given me a lot of inspiration in just this one post! Thank you for that!
Did you make the 3 tiered tray? I really like that and would love to have one like it and style it similar to the way you styled yours! I searched your blog for a tutorial but was unable to find one. Would it be possible for your to link the tutorial, or if you purchased it, that link?
Thank you so much!
