Hello there friends! It’s been a very long time since I last blogged. I’ve missed you guys! My design business has kept me so busy this year, that it’s been a challenge for me to blog/share projects along the way. I’m finally back to blogging and today, I’m excited to FINALLY be able to share a huge project reveal that’s finally finished, which is a beautiful large home design center in Lufkin, Texas called Layered Home!
Just to give you some background, last year, owners of a local flooring/tile store in my hometown of Lufkin, Texas met with me about collaborating and incorporating furniture, home decor and lighting into their existing large flooring store. They also wanted to completely remodel/rebrand and transform the store into a gorgeous full-service design center that would have everything you could possibly need when remodeling or building a home (flooring, tile, lighting, furniture, hardware, accessories and rugs).
Long story short, I jumped (more like lunged) at the opportunity to be a part of bringing something so fresh and beautiful (and desperately needed) to our smaller community. I immediately began by drawing up floor plans and layouts for the furniture/home decor side of the center, collaborated on rebranding/store logistics and I curated/styled the home decor/furniture/lighting. It’s been a dream project for me to work on but most importantly, it was a very talented and hard working dream team of amazing people who together made Layered Home such a beautiful reality!
Below are some of my preliminary designs for this huge project:
Once we finalized the exterior and interior design plans, construction started and it was so fun to watch Layered become a reality! Below are progress pictures of the remodel. Can you believe we turned this red metal building below:
Into this:
Layered Home Design Center is now open and we have launched an online store here for customers to shop online and have anything shipped across the country! Many of the larger pieces like art, lighting and furniture can also be dropped shipped anywhere by our vendors! On a side note, I’m sharing a TON of pictures today, so if you see something in any of my images that you want more information on, you can call the sweet ladies at Layered Home at 936-699-4535 for all the details! At the end of this post, I’m sharing my top five favorite styling pieces with links to purchase for styling in your own home!
The owners gave me creative freedom and encouraged me to design/fill the store with unique items that my clients and I would LOVE and buy for our own homes. I approached this project as if it was my own dream home decor store and in fact, I agreed to stay on the project after opening to style Layered weekly and continue curating items going into the home decor side of the store.
We wanted every spot in the design center to be “layered” and styled like I do in my client’s homes, so customers can better envision spaces and be inspired at every turn. It makes such a big difference to look at a space and see how all the elements layered together would look when fully styled down to even the littlest detail. We also wanted several different design styles represented to appeal to everyone on the floor including transitional, California modern, traditional with a twist and modern farmhouse.
As a designer in East Texas, I wanted Layered to also appeal to other designers as well who could easily pull styling pieces, like a wide variety of vessels and urns for stems and the prettiest styling pieces we could find. I brought in all of the best lines that I use for my own clients, which has been so awesome to have a showroom that I could work out of and pull for my clients.
We also love to create realistic organic arrangements that customers can purchase already in vessels. The Layered team loves to work with customers to pick out stems and vessels they love and arrange for them.
The furniture lines that we picked up at Layered Home are amazing, with a wide variety of fabric selections and options! I have already been so busy filling my clients homes with amazing customized pieces from Layered that I’ll be sharing with you in the coming weeks.
I LOVE this swivel chair below, which is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in!
This bench below is actually a storage bench! It’s so hard to find beautiful long storage benches (that don’t look cheap) for the end of bed in endless fabric options. I just LOVE it and specify it a lot for my client’s because it’s so versatile.
We also brought in some absolutely stunning custom rug lines.
There is just SO much that we jammed packed into Layered Home Design Center that I wish I could share it all, which I will in the coming weeks!! For now, I wanted to share my top five unique must-have styling pieces that I LOVE the most with links to buy and have shipped if you’re interested
My hands-down favorite styling piece/accessory at Layered Home that I use the most when styling for clients are these “Real Touch” peony bouquets that look and feel JUST LIKE real peony bouquets! We looked for the very best “REAL” stems while we were at market and I never dreamed that what we actually found would be even better than what I could imagine! Everyone who walks in the store who touches and feels them can’t believe that they are faux!
Both of the images above have two bouquets of the ivory/white peonies in the vessel that you can buy online here.
The peony bouquets also come in a beautiful soft pink as well!
Pink peonies are here.
I don’t have a picture of it but for larger bouquets, I love to mix a bouquet of the real touch pink peony buds here with a bouquet of the open pink peonies here. I work them in together.
I also love our real touch open ranunculus that are AMAZING! Trust me, they feel and touch just like the real thing! It’s so crazy!
You can buy the white ranunculus here (we also have pink too).
Another one of my favorite styling pieces are these white compote bowls. Usually I style it on my client’s coffee table and encourage them to use it for seasonal styling. First let me show you how I style them:
The smaller of the two compote bowls above is called the “Benoit” bowl and it’s the perfect size to layer a large moss ball in it and you can purchase it here. If you want the 9″ moss ball that I have in the bowl, you can add that here. The Benoit and moss ball is the one in the image below:
The larger compote bowl is called the “Toba” bowl, which you can purchase here. If you want to purchase velvet pumpkins for your Toba bowl (as shown below), call Layered at (936) 699-4535 to tell the ladies what color/size velvet pumpkins you would like shipped and costs (Unfortunately, we don’t have our velvet pumpkins in the online store).
I also LOVE these GORGEOUS white marble frames that I like to use when style. It’s so hard to find white solid marble frames that are not over $150 and ours at Layered are all under $40!! They are stunning and they are also the perfect affordable gift idea for a wedding, Birthday or Christmas!!
These stunning frames come in several different sizes that you can look through and purchase here.
We also have our own Layered Home signature candle that has an AMAZING scent! We created our own Layered scent that everyone who walks in the store comments on and loves! The Layered candle is the prettiest combination amber, sage and musk and it comes in a beautiful white vessel. The smell is light and so dreamy! I can’t get enough of the smell!
Another one of my favorite styling pieces is our whole line of metal styling pieces including this small cache pot that we can monogram with the prettiest two letter monogram. I like to use this piece below with a small moss ball stacked on books on a coffee table or on the master bath countertop.
Well friends, what do you think of our beautiful new Layered Home Design Center? We share a lot of sneak peeks and stories of new items as they come in on all of the Layered Home social media channels. You can follow along with Layered on Instagram here and Facebook here. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and what you would else you would like me to show you from our design center. Do you have any interest in seeing my favorite flooring or tile patterns? How about lighting? Let me know in the comments below.
By the way, if you live in East Texas and want to visit Layered Home and are thinking about making the drive, we would LOVE to see you! The store has in-store designers to help and inspire you and I’m in the store pretty frequently styling and am always happy to help find the right pieces for Layered visitors! If you’re outside of Texas, you can always call the ladies at Layered if you’re looking for something unique and pretty that can be shipped to you.
I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks along with several of my finished design projects that I have been working on these last few months as well.
Thanks for stopping by today friends!
Cheers!
Cyndy

What a lovely store! I have only been following you for a short time but I wish I was anywhere near but I am not. I am in the process of renovating and redecorating my home in Florida and am struggling with a designer here for fabrics – but that is another story! I love the coffee and end tables that look like they are marble. Would you be able to share that with me? The coffee table looks like there are 4 squares with a geometric base. I had decorated with a “Tommy Bahama” look (after all it is Florida) but it is waaaay to heavy for me when everything is said and done. I have even worked with several designers and did not turn out as I had hoped. If you are able to tell me the manufacturer of that table I would like to look into it. I don’t know if you have the ability to drop ship somewhere else as well. If not, I understand. I wish you well in your new venture!
Cyndy says
Thank you so much for such kind words Judy! I’m so glad that you’re following along! Yes! Many of our vendors will drop ship furniture, art, lighting, etc.. I’ll send an email to you later today with the details! Thank you again for your sweet note! 🙂

Do you ship furniture? I am interested in square coffee table that’s divided into fours. It looks like wood with maybe white stone on top.
Thank you
Cyndy says

LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!!! Especially love the pillows that you frequently show in your pictures, AND the “backing” that is in the very first picture that you show. It looks like those pillows are the same pattern as that background. Can you tell me if the background shown in that first picture is wallpaper, curtains or what? I would LOVE to purchase both the pillows AND the background that are shown together. Please let me know!
And CONGRATULATIONS on your new endeavor!
Cyndy says
Hi Suzanne! Thank you SO much for your note! The “backing” that you see is actually the most amazing antelope wallpaper! It’s so gorgeous in person and we actually have rolls in stock that we can ship to you! We can also hook you up with the matching pillows! I’ll email you all of the details. Thanks for stopping by!
