I have been busy working on my master bedroom revamp all this month and thought this would be a good stopping point to share a little peek and give you guys an update on how my  project is going.
If you’re just joining us, I have started a new monthly feature called “Revamp of the Month” and each month I will be updating a new room in my home and sharing the projects and product sources as I go along. Â This month, I am updating my master bedroom.
Here is a picture of my master bedroom before I got started on the revamp:
Ok, so this is where I am so far…
The room and ceiling have been painted and the new carpet and light fixtures were installed last week. I finally made a decision on my new bedding and picked out fabrics for new pillows, bench and chair upholstery and the window treatments. Now, I am moving on to the fluff; accessories, accents, art and final furniture revamps. Yay!
I was really excited {and relieved} with how beautiful the paint color turned out in the space (ignore the sunburst mirror, it’s not staying):
While it’s really hard to see in this picture, the color is a gorgeous mix of gray-blue with a slight hint of green. Â I had Home Depot mix 50/50 Behr Rhino with Stone Fence because the Rhino was too blue and the Stone Fence had the green that I was looking for.
I used the new Behr paint from Home Depot “Premium Plus Ultra” that has the primer, paint and stain blocker-all in one. I couldn’t believe how amazing it is! Â It only took one coat and the whole room took less than a gallon and half. The last time I had my bedroom painted, it took nearly three gallons and several coats of paint:
I was also really happy with my new carpet that was also from Home Depot and I decided on the Platinum Plus Collection Thriving II product # 5450-221 in the color “Sand-Beach“. The guys at Home Depot told me that it was extremely popular and I was looking for a frieze-lite, nothing shaggy for me. Â The best part is that it was pretty inexpensive. Â I also ordered the thickest rug pad that I could get because I wanted the floor extra cushy. The guys also told me that the better the rug pad, the longer your carpet will last, good information!
Next up, I finally made a decision on my bedding. Â This was really hard for me but I decided to go with 500 thread count Charter Club all white solid duvet cover and white sheets. Â Because I want to incorporate a mix of bold patterns and textures in my accent bed pillows, upholstery and room accents, I decided that the white would help to balance the bold while also helping to lighten up the room:
I was excited that I got the bedding 50% off {one day sale} with an extra 20% discount for opening a new charge account! I was able to get my queen duvet cover, duvet comforter insert, sheet set and several new pillows all for under $225.00! Â By the way, Macy’s is running a 40% off sale through 10/30 on bedding if you’re interested. If you open a new account, you get an extra 20% off.
As far as light fixtures go, because I live in Texas, I had no choice but to get another ceiling fan. It frustrates me so much that no one has come up with beautiful ceiling fan with  lighting. If someone would just design a ceiling fan with a large round pendant barrel with beautiful design, that was fairly inexpensive, they would sell out of it.  Unfortunately, when the humid July and August come around in Texas, most of us have to have ceiling fans in our bedrooms to keep the air circulating.
So the “nicest” ceiling fan that I could find that was inexpensive was {again} at Home Depot:
I couldn’t find the fan on the Home Depot website to link for you, so I think it may be discontinued? Â I bought the floor model for $110.00.
The other light fixture that I purchased also from Home Depot {I should just call this the Home Depot Revamp of the Month} my hallway lighting is called the Estelle flush mount and it was $79.00 I absolutely love it:
By the way, Home Depot has some very inexpensive and beautiful pendant/barrel flush mounts that are so fabulous if you’re looking to update hallway, or closet lighting.
So on to my favorite part of this project- the fabrics! I really got lucky on this because I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find what I had pictured in my mind. I really wanted to find a beautiful bold geometric fabric that would really pull all of the colors and elements in my bedroom together.  I figured that I would be looking for days or even weeks for what I had envisioned but I found it in less than an hour at my favorite fabric store, High-Fashion Home in Houston:
If you look closely, the lighter gray design in the fabric is exactly my wall color. Â The darker color is really more of a dark gray slate rather than a navy as it appears in the picture. All I know about this fabric is that it’s called Aristocrat Waterfall and I wasn’t able to find it anywhere online to link it. Â I splurged and paid $48.00 a yard but I only purchased one yard and I’m going to really get a lot out of it by either using it on pillow fronts or upholstery.
I needed more fabric for some unique pillow designs that I am going to be making where I mix linen and velvet together. Â So I also purchased at High Fashion a Danish Linen and a slate blue velvet called Stingray Charcoal both were $19.00 a yard and much more affordable:
I also included a board that I painted with my wall color above so you can see how it all looks together. Â I couldn’t be happier that I was able to find all of the fabrics that I had in my mind. Â This week, I will be creating the pillows with a unique fabric pattern by mixing the linen and velvet together. I can’t wait to get them made! Â I will share the project with you as soon as I get that finished.
I am also making final decision on the furniture revamps {the nightstands} and am moving on to the hunt for accessories and I will be finishing up the upholstery projects and unique window treatments, that I will also be sharing with you as soon as it’s all ready. Â Hopefully it will all come together in the next week. Â The hard part of making the decisions on colors and the overall look and finding the fabric has been done, so the rest will be easy and just a matter of getting everything done.
I hope you see something here today that can help you if you’re interested in updating a room in your home. I hope that by sharing this process, someone who reads this can save a little bit of time, research and money by using some of the information and product source information that I’m sharing along the way. Â I know that there are several of you revamping your bedroom along with me this month and I would love to hear how things are going and I can’t wait to see your final pictures!
Have a great day friends!
Cheers!
