I wanted to share with you guys a couple of fun things that have come out in the last couple of weeks that we are really excited about!
Some of you guys may remember back in May when I shared on the blog that Better Homes and Gardens Magazine came to our home to do a photo shoot of our craft/family room for the magazine.  Well…, after a long 7 month wait, our room feature came out and is in the January, 2015 issue, which is available now:

What was really crazy about this is that I wasn’t expecting the issue to be out until the end of December but a friend called me in early December to tell me she was looking at a copy.  I made her get in her car immediately and drive it to my house and I met her in the driveway in my pajamas!  To say our family was a little excited to finally see it was an understatement!
When I finally opened it up, we were so excited and thrilled with how the pictures turned out and the article was just perfect:
My daughter Bella was especially excited (she’s 10) and seeing the two of us painting in our special space just makes me smile.
It was such a wonderful and special experience working with the fabulous BHG photographer Kim Cornelison and her photographer tech husband, Alfie Ferreyra:

Stylist Jenny O’Connor, was such a joy to work with and Natalie McIlwain, Associate BHG Editor, wrote the article and was also so wonderful to work with. Â Seeing it all come together has really been such a treat for us from start to finish and we are just so appreciative that BHG wanted to share our space.
I SO wish that I could say that our craft space looks that magazine perfect today but I have to chuckle a every time I walk in the room and see it full of Christmas decorations being packed up and a slew of craft projects that both Bella and I are working on.  Reality, right?
At the same time the BHG article came out, my hometown newspaper;Â Lufkin Daily News, has a monthly magazine called Charm Magazine that featured me and the blog in the January issue:
All I can say is thank goodness for photoshop! #holycloseupbatman
The reason I wanted to share this with you is because it’s ironic and so special to me that Charm featured me in the January, 2015 issue. Â I have been writing a column every month in the magazine since I first started blogging, exactly 5 years ago this month. Â Denise Hoepfner, who is a great friend of mine, was the editor (at that time) and she featured several of my projects in the magazine before I started blogging.
It was because of Denise’s encouragement and nudging that I set out to start a blog 5 years ago and the fact that this has come full circle for me today, is so very special. Â Without Charm Magazine and Denise, I would never have set out on this wonderful blogging journey that has brought me so much joy. Â I am so grateful and I really wanted to thank Denise and Charm (Melissa) here on the blog today by sharing this with you.
Thanks so much friends for letting me share our excitement and appreciation with you today. I’m so glad that you stopped by!
Cheers!

I just started following your blog and lo and behold I have my copy of BH&G, from December, right here in my pile of “Things to read and do”. Love what you did to your space, very inspiring. The stools your daughter is sitting on at the paint table are so neat.

Thank you Beth! I’m so glad you found my blog! Those ottomans are from Ballard Designs and they are so awesome. Super comfy and they make them in lots of different fabric patters. Thank you again and Happy New Year!

After reading this, I ran to my table where BHG has been laying there still in plastic and ripped it open to see your article. Yay!! What a thrill for you and all of us that follow you,to read and see a story of someone I feel could be my neighbor or a friend, even though we have never met, I was just bursting with pride for you. Congrats to you Cyndy! What great talent you posses.

I, too, have driven myself nuts trying to locate the chair (or even the fabric) on the cover of the Jan. 2015 issue. Has anyone had any luck? If so, PLEASE email me at van@cavenet.com.

I just found the article in BHG and ripped it out of my mother’s magazine (hope she doesn’t notice my thievery). I love your craft room and can’t wait to read more of your blog!
