Happy March friends! It’s been a very long winter for so many of us and I know everyone is ready to see signs of spring! Today for Moody Monday, I wanted to share some quick and easy spring refresh ideas for our homes that can help lighten things up.

Rugs
Rugs can instantly transform a space with color or even brighten things up when light colored rugs are used. Woven indoor/outdoor rugs are great because they are not only lightweight but they are so easy to clean. Here are a few of my favorites:

Pillows
Pillows are always an easy and inexpensive way to lighten a space up. Better yet, ff you have a darker sofa or furniture in your space, it’s mind blowing how by simply adding white/off white pillows and a white throw blanket, an overall room can instantly look so much lighter. I use to have a darker colored velvet camel colored sofa and in the spring/summer, I added white linen pillows and white throw blankets draped over the sofa and the whole room felt so much lighter.
Here’s a couple great white and lighter in color pillows to consider:

I really love the Belgian linen pillows from Pottery Barn because the colors are so light and beautiful. Even though they are a tad more expensive, these are fantastic prices for Belgian linen fabric. If you want to add some subtle muted color, these pillows are perfect and gorgeous in person.

A few weeks ago, I shared my favorite designer fabric pillow cover sources here if you’re looking for beautiful patterns and fabrics. Many of my favorites are light in color and perfect for a spring refresh!

Lamps
Lamps are an inexpensive way to help lighten up and update a room instantly. Today with great stores like Target, Pier One, Wayfair and even Homegoods, you can find affordable lamps easily. Most people don’t think about switching out their lamps but it can make a huge impact, especially if your lamps are dated and darker in color. If you choose a brighter white shade and a light color base like white, you will be amazed at how big of an impact switching out lamps can make.
Here are some great light colored lamps to put on your radar if you want to lighten up:

The Damis lamp below is 31″ tall and comes in a set of 2. There are also more than 10 other colors to choose from on Wayfair here.
If you don’t mind spending a little more, I just purchased two marble and brass lamps that are so beautiful in person! I ordered them for my guest room and have loved them so much that I’m ordering another two for my living room. It’s hard to tell in the image below but in person, the marble is absolutely stunning!

Organic
Incorporating organic elements like fresh or faux stems in glass vases, moss balls, fresh or faux floral and wicker baskets are all easy ways to bring the outdoors inside, which helps to make a space feel like spring and fresh. I’m lucky to have several different types of palms in my yard that I can clip fronds from to bring inside and I just love how it can instantly give my space a warm coastal feel. If you don’t have palms to clip, I love this tall faux fan palm in a glass vase (it’s almost 50″ in height):

Basket sets are another favorite of mine to add to spaces not only to give an organic feel but for storage as well. You can never have enough baskets for storing magazines, extra pillows, blankets, etc..

You don’t have to spend a fortune to lighten up and many of the items that I mentioned above you can find at Target or even Homegoods that can help you lighten and update a space. If you have bookshelves, think about adding pops of white ceramic urns or white ceramic vases that are larger in size that can give you that pop of white to help lighten up.
I hope there is something here today that inspires you! If you need more ideas and inspiration, you can see more Moody Monday’s with design boards here.

These are beautiful examples however in almost all of my main living spaces my home has north light exposure and I feel like these examples would make my space feel dark. I have so much trouble with paint color, furniture, rugs and decor in my north living room, dinning and kitchen!

I always enjoy the color palettes and mood boards you put together! I’m drawn to blues and greens, but I find myself looking for a warm color to add as an accent to keep the room from being too light and ‘floaty’. Are there a couple warm colors that you’ve found work well with the cool blue/green palettes? Thanks!
