You’ve just painted the walls that perfect slate grey. You’ve accessorized your living space, maybe even added some quotation art. But the wall calls out for a statement painting. Paintings, of all the art mediums, provide such a varied palette of choices. Today we wanted to share some tips for where to find beautiful paintings and giclees on a budget.
There are paintings for every budget and taste from fine art to pop art. And with beautiful premium quality canvas prints and artists sharing their work online such as on Etsy, finding a painting that speaks to your aesthetic can be just a click or two away.
Online galleries such as Saatchi or in-person art galleries are a great place to find art inspiration or indulge in original art. If there is an art walk near you, get out there and mingle. Supporting emerging and local artists is a great way to feel good and have your home look good, too and often times, artists will offer a print or giclee of an original piece as a budget alternative.
Abstract Paintings
We found our inspiration on the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes Tour and the Naples Florida Parade of Homes. Abstract paintings were the go-to painting for the art work which makes sense. Some abstracts can be neutral in their presentation letting the viewer do the interpreting. Large abstract paintings add a statement to a room without distracting from the rest of the design. Do not fall into the trap of matching your painting to your couch.
This set of modern giclee paintings add the perfect pop of color and really make a statement in this space.
Zgallerie is a fantastic place to find large modern paintings like this for a great price! They have thousands of paintings/giclees and they are great for the budget but well done.
If you want a similar modern abstract statement giclee less expensive painting, we found this piece below on Wayfair for $99.00.

Wayfair also fantastic large selection of budget paintings/giclees/prints.
Also, think about sets of paintings, decide if you want balance or interest (which is usually an odd number like a triptych) which will fill the space without the cost of a large painting.
We found this exact modern black and white set above on Wayfair here for $34.99 for each painting!

Again, if you want to save a lot of money but need to fill a wall or make a statement, sets are a fantastic budget alternative.
Keep in mind that abstracts do not need to be graphic. They can be simply beautiful including serene abstract seascapes.
via Horchow
Horchow is another great place to look for beautiful paintings (giclees). While the prices will be higher than Wayfair, Horchow always has great sales and additional discounts.
Abstracts can also be simply layers of colors and patterns that can also make a beautiful statement.

And if you feel the call of the artist muse, grab some paint – acrylic is the most forgiving medium –Â and have fun making your own or frame your child’s latest masterpiece. As the saying goes, “we’re our own worst critics,” so don’t judge, just paint!
I hope we gave you the inspiration to go out and find the perfect painting, or two.

I thought the point of art was to buy what you love, not what matches your sofa.

Buy what you like AS LONG as it fits in your room 🙂

This is such a beautiful, yet practical post! As a Realtor/blogger who is always trying to inspire homeowners to love their homes by keeping them fresh so that they will easily sell later, I will be passing your post to my clients and readers. Nothing enhances listing photos better than neutral walls and abstract art. Thank you!

Hi Cyndy –
If you don’t have additional information about the print I mentioned in my previous Comment, could you share what you know for me so I can investigate? Was it from the Naples or Salt Lake City Parade of Homes?
Thank you for your help!
Ann

Hi Ann! I’m sorry, I do not see your previous comment on here. For some reason, I think it disappeared or maybe I’m missing it? Tell me which print you are interested in and I will be happy to help you track it down. 🙂
Ann says
Happy to! I very much like the painting you featured without a link. It is the twelfth photo from the top of your post. The photo includes coral and three candles on a wood counsel cabinet, round wood ball on a round gray coffee table, . The painting features shades of white, blue, black, and gold.
For some reason, my original question still says it is “awaiting moderation.”
Thank you!
Cyndy says
Oh thank you! I’m not seeing it in my comment section to approve, I’m not sure where it is and I’m sorry. That image I took during the Naples Parade of Homes. We could not locate that piece using reverse image search, which searches all of the internet like we were able to find on the others. Unfortunately, since we couldn’t locate it anywhere online, it probably was an original piece, which wouldn’t surprise me as the colors are so vibrant. If you like this type of abstract, you would probably love the art at High Fashion Home online (I get a lot of my art there). You should look through the art section and you will see what I mean and how there are many similar vibrant pieces. I’m sorry Ann that I was unable to locate the exact piece and I’m so sorry for the strange comment issue. 🙂
