Recently, I was at Target looking for a new makeup case for an upcoming trip and I stumbled across this travel case that is intended as a nail polish carrier. Even though it was distracting for me to get past the thought of someone out there needing a travel case for 25 nail polishes (no judging), I took a closer look just to see the possibilities.
As I looked closer, I realized that the dividers are actually inserts that slide right out! So, a couple of the dividers could be pulled out to make wider divided slots but I could still keep some of the narrow (nail polish size) compartments. My brain churned because I realized that I could actually probably get all of my hair products (travel size), skin care, makeup and other sundries all into one nice little case instead of my normal 3-4 bags. It also hit me that this would so easy to work out of in a hotel bathroom, just on the counter top.
I couldn’t buy the case fast enough and got home and packed it up:
So you can see in the above image that I removed two vertical dividers on the right side and on the left side, I left the vertical divider in for smaller compartments. Everything fits snuggly to not move around and is neatly organized.
So this is how I organized it by compartments starting with top left going down and then the next row-top down to give you an idea for organizing and packing this case (and for things you can’t really see);
- Lip glosses
- Lip Sticks/Lip Pencils
- Makeup Brushes
- Toothpaste, Mouthwash and Floss
- Q-tips
- Makeup (Foundation and Bronzer)
- (2) Makeup Compacts Slid Down on Sides
- Makeup (Eye Shadow, Mascara, Liner, Curler, Blush, Concealer Stick)
- Samples and Nail Polish (I always slide in samples just in case I run out of something)
- Baby Powder and Hand Sanitizer
- Travel Size Shampoo, Conditioner and Hairspray
- Hair Ties, Hair Products
- Cleanser and Primer
- Night Skin Care and Moisturizer
- Body Lotion and Body Products
I didn’t even completely fill in every compartment or the top part of the case, so there is even more room! The other thing is that the many of these items will always remain packed in this case (except my makeup) because I picked up trial sizes, so every time I travel (which is quite a bit these days), most of my beauty products will be already packed. I kept the dividers so I can customize the compartments for every trip.
One other thing, by using a case like this, I can slip it in my suitcase or carry it on with me on a flight because everything is less than 3 oz. By the way, this case would be a great way to organize smaller things in a bathroom cabinet like nail polishes, extra makeup, skincare products and even jewelry.
I just couldn’t resist sharing my little find with you guys (can you tell I’m a little excited?). There are even more cases out there like this one for nail polishes that are just as good (Target had several), so the next time you see one, see if the dividers slip out. Or, maybe you’re one of those that needs a nail polish case for traveling with 25 nail polishes 🙂
If you are interested in picking up this particular case, it’s sold out on Amazon right now. However, the only other place I have been able to find it is at Target here. If you’re interested in picking it up at your local Target, you’ll find it in the makeup section (I actually found it on an end cap of the nail polish aisle.
Thanks for stopping by friends!
Cheers!

Were you able to actually zip it closed with some items taller than their compartment? I’m especially curious about your makeup brushes? If so, this is the solution I have been needing!! 🙂

Hi Annette!
Yep, I was so surprised that I could zip it with the taller stuff including makeup brushes. But if you look closely, the lid indents at least two inches, so there was plenty of room for the brushes and my taller stuff. I couldn’t believe how much stuff I got in there and still plenty of extra room! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Thanks for sharing…looks like Target may be sold out too! I clicked on your link and it said “product not available”. Bummer!

Kimberly, try it now. I had 5 in my cart that I was going to buy for Christmas presents and I just removed them. I will track them down elsewhere. If they are still sold out, go to your local Target and you should be able to find one. Thanks for your note!

This is perfection 😀 As someone who LOVES to organize things, this is definitely at the top of my travel wishlist!

I think your three ounce liquids must fit in a quart Ziploc bag. So you could be ready for that. This is a great idea!! Thanks so much for sharing.

I’ve been looking for so long for a modern but elegant version of the old fashioned train cases my grandmothers carried. They are impossible to find! This will do the trick in the meantime, thanks so much!

I love your ideas for a makeup travel organizer. I also thought I could use it to carry my essential oils BUT it is completely sold out in our area too and not available online…boo Target! I’ve just discovered your site from the Resourceful Blogger and am hooked!
