I’m veering off track a little here today because I wanted to tell you guys about some awesome beauty products that I’m using that I just love and want to share with you.
I’m a product junkie and if someone says something is really good, I have to run out and try it. Â I need all the help I can get these days and I get so excited if I can find something that can instantly tame my frizzy hair, give me a little color on my white pasty skin, or cover my dark circles under my eyes from my horrible allergies!
One of the best products to come out in the last few months that has pretty much changed my life is the Dry Bar Hairdryer and Blowout in a Box:
I had been hearing really great things about Blowout in a Box from my girlfriends who have tried it. Â I live in East Texas and the humidity makes my hair frizzy and I recently stopped getting Brazilian Blowouts, so my hair is out of control. Â I decided to invest in the Blowout in a Box (yep, it’s expensive) and rationalized the expense by telling myself that I’m saving money by no longer getting the blowouts (anything to rationalize, right?).
All I can say is wow!! Â It’s absolutely incredible and the longer I take to blow dry my hair with the dryer and brush, the smoother my hair gets. Â It also dries in half the time. Â This is the hairdryer that they use at Dry Bars across the country and I’m so glad that I ordered it. Â If you have frizz issues, for sure take a look at this. Â You can read all of the reviews at Sephora here.
Next up, I wanted to post a link to my self tanner recipe that I shared years ago that I still use and love here. Â Separately, these two brands of self tanner are just ok. Â However, when mixed together in your hand (50/50), something magical happens and its a beautiful non orange color that lasts for almost a full week:
I do have to tell you, since I posted that recipe, they changed the formula for the Loreal Sublime Bronze and it’s not as great as it use to be. Â However, it’s still my favorite mix and I think by far the best color in a self tanner but it’s not perfect like the old mix. Â Be sure and read that post for here more information about the formula change.
Another favorite product that I heard was amazing that I recently tried and love is Benefit Erase Paste eye concealer:
I have horrible dark circles under my eyes from my allergies and have tried everything. Â I read great things about Erase Paste that it covers beautifully but does not sit in the lines. Â I tried it and couldn’t believe how great it is. Â It lasts all day and its another product that I know I will use forever. Â For more information, you can read the reviews at Sephora here.
I have talked about in the past how much I love the YSL Radiant Touch luminizing pen that is one of my favorite products. Â You just swipe it across fine lines and blemishes and the light in the mix diffuses away from the lines and everything just temporarily disappears:
It lasts all day and while it seems like its a concealer, its really more of a lightener. Â I use it around the lines on my forehead and mouth and it instantly defuses. Â I had read somewhere that it was named the best beauty product of the year last year. Â I absolutely love it! You can read the reviews here.
Another new favorite product is the Colorescience Skin Bronzing Primer with 20 SPF:
This stuff is incredible! Â It’s a primer but it’s also a skin bronzer that gives your face a very natural sun glow under your makeup. Â The color is not orange but very natural looking and the primer works really well. Â I have actually worn the primer by itself because the coverage and color is so good. Â I’m sure in the summer I will wear it this way. Â You can find out more here.
Lastly, I wanted to share my favorite spring colors for nail polish and lip gloss:
The nail polish is OPI Second Honeymoon and its a beautiful pink opaque spring/summer color and its such a beautiful color on. Â The lip gloss is YSL Golden Peony and really, I love all of the golden gloss colors from YSL but this peony is my favorite!
All of these products are really good and I wanted to share with you as you too come out of winter hibernation. Â Please read the reviews before you buy and form your own opinion. Â I just wanted to put these products on your radar to take a closer look.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!
Cheers!

I’ve been crazy about beauty blogs lately! I love that you did this post! I thought I would share my new favorite polish…It’s one by Sally Hansen and it’s less than $3 at Kroger but it’s by far, the best stuff I’ve ever used. I’m going on a week and only have one tiny chip and it’s still super shiny! It’s honestly like a gel! Happy Weekend Friend!

Does that lipgloss have a pretty decent shimmer to it? It looks gorgeous!

Gorgeous shimmer Amanda! It has gold flakes in it girl! It also comes in several shades and is in my opinion, the best gloss on the market. Its not overly glittery and is just the right amount. It’s pricey but it lasts forever and its amazing. Have a great weekend!

I loved this blog and that you “get” the frizz that only occurs in Etx. Now I’m wondering how I came to flow your blog. Thanks for the drybar kit tip – even tho I have a BB, I’m totally too impatient to dry my thick hair in this humidity. Cheers! Lyzz

Cyndy,
I love this post. I love beauty products and trying new ones. Some I want to try though are so darn expensive. I wish cosmetic companies would sell sample sizes as they do sample sizes of paint. I think I will send that suggestion to some of my favorites. You can return for money back or exchange for something else but who wants to mess with all that. I love this website and get their emails – Refinery29.com – if you don’t know about this site, you must read “29 Beauty Products we won’t Live Without” on their site. I want to try so many of them but to get all at once would cost a small fortune. Love everything you writer about. You rock girl!!!!!! I wish we lived close and could have a great girlfriend chat…….maybe someday.
Take care

I tried your recipe for self tanner several years ago and have LOVED it! I have given up on the sun but with my olive complexion I can still get kind of a sickly color without a little help. Thanks for the tip. You are a favorite blogger of mine for a ton of creative reasons! Keep up the wonderful work!
