Today, I wanted to highlight a painting trend that has really become popular lately that I just love and it’s horizontally painted stripes on walls. I really love this look because it’s a great and inexpensive way to really add a pop of drama in a space.
My sweet blogging friend Megan from Honey We’re Home recently rocked my world when she painted gorgeous wide stripes on her entry way wall a few weeks ago:
Isn’t that incredible!
Megan did a fantastic job and what she also shared a very detailed tutorial on here fabulous blog how she was able to get perfect crisp lines.  She also shared how to measure for the stripes.  It’s by far the best tutorial I have ever seen on how to painting perfect stripes and you can find it here.
Thanks to Megan’s tutorial, she has made it so easy for us to do this project on our own and I got to thinking about all of the wide stripe possibilities. Â So here is some striped eye candy to inspire us with all of the possibilities:
wide stripes in a lighter gray add subtle drama from In This 4 Walls:
dark brown mixed with cream from Comfortable Home Designs:
add a pop of stripe drama in a child’s room from The Shabby Nest:
a pop of pink from Feasby & Bleeks Design:
wide stripes in bold colors really make a statement from HGTV:Â
wide stripes are also a creative way for making smaller spaces appear larger:
another subtle way to incorporate wide stripes:
adding additional colors and narrow stripes to the wide is another creative way to add a pop of fun:
Ok, so have I convinced you that you need some painted wide stripes somewhere? I know that I have convince myself and now I just have to decide where. If you need more convincing, be sure and take a look at Megan’s tutorial, she has done all of the legwork for us and makes this project very do-able! Â Thank you so much Megan!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and if you happened to miss last week’s Paint It Monday, I shared an great round-up of some of the best spray paint transformations out there. So many cool (and easy) ideas and you can get to that post by clicking the image below:
Cheers!

I LOVE this look! I wanted to paint my kids room turquoise but was worried it might be too “in your face”. Now I think I’ll go for this wide wall stripe look and mix it up with white and turquoise, it will lighten it up perfectly!!!!!

Just in time! I want to paint one wide stripe in my small dining room. It’s covered with art, so I don’t want it to be too busy, BUT…I have taped it off and, because the house is 113 years old, it doesn’t look level, though it is…anybody got any tips for that??? I am on my way over to the tutorial now…and then to the Fall Homes tour, what a day!
