I have waited a long time for this day! Jeff Lewis paints have finally come out and just as I suspected, he hit it out of the ball park. Yep, it’s official, I’m a paint groupie. I’ve been stalking Jeff Lewis’ website for the last few months for this day to come. In fact, this is exactly how I feel today:
Ha! Only Jeff Lewis could come up with an ad like this! “Idiot-proof paint”! Well almost…
So why am I so excited? Jeff Lewis is a designer known for his eye for amazing paint color picks and beautiful design work. If you’ve watched his show Flipping Out on Bravo, you have seen Jeff in action and know that he comes up with absolutely gorgeous and livable paint colors in every project that he touches. I mean serious drool-worthy colors!
I have searched for a couple of years now for any morsel of paint color information that Jeff has used on his projects, but I haven’t been able to find a thing. Jeff’s paint line has been a long time coming. I know that there are several of you who too are also obsessed with paint and I think you guys are gonna love this!
I started watching Flipping Out to see Jeff’s design work but I was sucked in instantly by his quirky personality and wonderfully sarcastic OCD dark side:
Um yes, it helps that he is so adorably drool-worthy himself.
On the show, Jeff mainly does renovation work for medium size homes and because of this, it is so interesting to see how he overcomes the same issues many of us face in our homes including; improving the flow of a room, layering design elements, opening rooms up and making rooms appear larger. Jeff is forced to get creative with limited spaces and he has a gift for zoning in on just the right paint color as part of the solution.
Here are a couple of pictures of Jeff’s work {via Jeff Lewis Design}. I purposely picked smaller spaces to show you how Jeff’s choice of rich paint colors give these spaces depth and layers, giving these rooms a much larger feel:
To see more of Jeff’s projects, be sure a check out his website and gallery, which is full of inspiration, beautiful colors and creative design ideas.
Ok, so long story short and what I’m really trying to say here is, Jeff is really the ideal person to come up with paint colors and I need a paint intervention…
So on to the paints! Here is a picture of the fan deck that just came out:
Just look at these colors:
rich in depth but calm and tranquil. A great balance and all livable colors..
The colors are seriously off the charts. I knew the colors would probably be good but they are really incredible and so worth the stalking wait. The colors each have a lot of depth but they are subtle and calm neutrals {from what I can tell without a fan deck} that look like they were designed to all safely work/play off of each other. It’s hard to tell on the computer but it appears that they all have the same undertones as well, which is why they look like they would all work beautifully together. Brilliant!
Jeff partnered with Dunn Edwards Paints to create this product and while I have never tried Dunn Edwards, I have always heard great things about their paints. So I don’t think this is just another pretty color and I think it’s probably a great paint too. But again, I haven’t tried the products. If you have used Dunn Edwards in the past, please tell us your thoughts in the comment section. I hope to be trying it very shortly to come back and tell you what I think.
So there appears to be 32 colors in Jeff’s collection and I already have a list of favorites. Well, I pretty much love all of them but I have three colors that are at the top of my list:
I love the blue/green calm feel of Aloe and I can so see that in a bathroom or a bedroom. And that Salt Water is so rich, I can just picture it in a small powder room or an entry wall. Salt Water looks like it would be a gorgeous furniture color as well. Clay looks like a color that Jeff would use in a living/great room and I also see it in a dining room, entry way, or even on cabinets with white walls. I can’t wait to look at these colors more when I can get my hands on a fan deck. I need a fan deck {deep breaths}…
Ok, now for the bad news… Right now, Jeff Lewis paint is only available in 5 states; Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, at stores that carry Dunn Edwards paints. I don’t know if this is something temporary or just a test run before they expand the line nationwide? Hello Lowe’s and Home Depot??
Dunn Edwards paints are currently available in these 5 states, so I’m not sure what that means. I have emailed Jeff Lewis Paint/Dunn Edwards for more information and see what the plans are (if any) for expanding Jeff’s line nationwide. I am also waiting to hear how we get our hands on those fan decks. They haven’t responded back with me but I will update this when they give us more information.
You can see all of the 32 colors in the collection on the Jeff Lewis Paint website here. I am so, so curious to hear what you guys think about the colors and which colors are your favorite! I would love it if you shared your favorites with me in the comment section below.
In the meantime, I can’t wait until we start getting pictures of real homes painted in these colors. Since the paint just came out, it will probably be a couple of months before we start seeing those images but I will be pinning them on my “Pick a Paint Color” Pinterest Board as I find them. I know many of my readers live in these states, so if you guys try it, please come back and let me know as well and please send me pictures!
Thanks for hanging out with me today and I will be back on Friday!
Cheers!

I’m in LOVE with these paint colors! Why oh why is it that when we find great new colors they’re never available where I can get them?? I might have to buy the paint deck and see if I can get some of the colors matched until they’re available in my area! Thanks for sharing!
Cyndy says
I agree Jenny, the colors are really spot on and amazing! I can’t help but think that somehow, we will see nationwide expansion very quickly on this. Of course what do I know, other than it’s seriously great stuff and I think everyone will love it. Surely Home Depot, Lowe’s, Dunn Edwards or someone will get this distributed nationwide?
Let’s hope! I will keep you posted Jenny when I hear back from Dunn Edwards. Thanks for stopping by!
Miss Kitty says
Thanks for that info, Cyndi! I don’t plan my week around watching his show but if I find it while “flipping” channels I love to watch. Is that a picture of Zoila in the first photo of Jeff’s work you used? Hahaha! I saw a preview that looked like he was firing her…never saw what really happened with that. I also did not know that he had a website…you are just full of good info.
Cyndy says
Ha! Yes, Miss Kitty, that’s Zoila in the painting on the wall! The painting makes her look like a Queen with a crown! LOL! That image is of Gramercy, Jeff’s new home. Oh yes, Jeff’s portfolio is on his website and it is packed full of fabulous inspiration! No, he never fired Zoila but in the previews it looked that way. He loves her so much and I don’t think she could do any wrong in his eyes.
Thanks for stopping by!

I love your enthusiasm about Jeff Lewis and his paints. I love his show and LOVE the paints! I was wondering if you knew how expensive the paints will be in comparison to the other brands like sherwin williams and behr. Great post!
Cyndy says
Thanks Jen! Jeff’s paints are priced at $33.00-$39.00 and compared to Behr, SherwinWilliams and Ben Moore, this would be average. Ben Moore being on the highest side. There is very little detail about the paint itself on the website, so I’m curious to find out more. I will update this post as I find out more information. Thanks for stopping by Jen!
Suzanne @ The Wine{a}be says
Wow…what gorgeous colors!! I could use some of those. I agree with your favorite colors…they are fabulous. Thanks for the post. I will have to check them out. I feel like I hit the jackpot since I’m in Cali! Yay Me! Cheers!
Cyndy says
I’m lucky too, there is a store opening soon in Austin and I have college friends at UT that come back and forth that can hook me up. You guys are gonna have to keep us posted once you give the paint a try! Thanks for stopping by Suzanne! Cheers!
Camille says
hmmm, Austin is on the list, but no store specifically listed yet. I’m going to keep my eyes out. I’d be interested in trying out some to see how it flows, etc. in comparison to SW. The colors are soooo soothing!

Yes these colors are definitely my style. I’m going to see if I can get a fan deck, then at least I can have them color matched since they are not available here. Thanks for sharing this, I’m glad to find it.

GRRRR….No fair to tease us locked in the Midwest like that! I’m going to redo my bathroom and your 3 fav colors would look awesome against white tile/white cabinets. I hope they do go nationwide, sooner rather than later.
Cyndy says
I really can’t help but think that this collection will quickly go nationwide. Fingers crossed and I’ll share the info here if I can ever get them to respond to my emails! Thanks for stopping by Francy!

Thanks so much for sharing this info…great colors from such a talented and entertaining fellow (yes, and adorable!). The names of the paints are interesting, although not as creative as the names they were considering for the counter tops!! 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing this!

This is great news! Thanks for sharing. Jeff Lewis is amazing and I really trust his design choices when it comes to paint colors. I grew up in the painting and wallpaper industry in So. Cal, and Dunn Edwards paint is the go-to paint for paint contractors and designers. Too bad for us in the mid-west and beyond. I only hope that Jeff’s paint is not exclusive to D.E.. Please keep us posted.

I spent an hour in DE waiting for my paid sample of Sky by Jeff Lewis and they wont or cant make a sample of this color. So unless you want a gallon of color it cannot be done. You also cant even get a color card to take home. Very strange. I purchased most of the other “blues” in samples since There no swatches exist unless you want to pay $15 for the cards. This actual location didnt even have them to sell.
Cyndy says
I have not been hearing great things from readers about being able to get samples or paint cards. In fact, I have emailed both Jeff Lewis and Jeff Lewis paints multiple times requesting more details/information and paint cards (or at least information on where I can get paint cards/samples). I never received a response from the paint company or Jeff Lewis Design, so I have not highlighted or recommended the paints (other than this old post) and won’t until I can see the cards and try out the paints.
I agree, this whole thing has been very strange and I have never heard of charging for paint cards! Bummer, because the colors look amazing.
Thanks for stopping by Caroline and I would love to know your thoughts on the samples when you get a chance to look at them.
Caroline says
After many samples, Im happy to share with any of you looking for the PERFECT shade of gray-blue. Jeff Lewis “Dusk” you wont be convinced looking at the color card or even once the paint is mixed and when you brush some on you still wont believe me…but just wait til color dries!! Its the perfect shade of blue. Much, much, much nicer than the sample of Farrow & Ball I ordered in Parma Grey because I loved Tori Spelling’s bedroom. I actually put both grey blues on each wall in my room and “Dusk” blows the other paint out of the blue grey waters!!! Trust me, Jeff Lewis found the perfect shade of light blue in “Dusk”. The funny thing is he sorts this shade in grey colors when it mostly is a blue tone when dry! You have to try it!!

Hi Cyndy, I just found your website via Pinterest searching Dunn Edwards. I never heard of Jeff Lewis now you have me intrigued. Almost my whole house is done in DE paints and I live a couple of blocks away from a store. It is the go to paint for all the designers and painters in the area. I love his fan deck and the colors he put together since my home is very beachy cottage colors..I just painted my kitchen Sea Haze by Benny Moore and I drove to the other side of town to pick it up on a recommendation from another blogger wish I read your post sooner..I haven’t seen Jeff Lewis paint at my store but I didn’t look either..but DE paint is amazing!

His colors and his i.e. Dunn Edwards’ paint will not be sold nationwide as long as they are sold at Dunn Edwards Corp. Dunn Edwards is a West Coast exclusive company. Speak to your local paint provider and ask them to carry Jeff Lewis Color at there locations!!!
christie says
These colors are awesome! I hope they become available in New Jersey.
Sharon says
So, has anyone tried the paint yet? Ours arrives next week! You can order through a store- we chose one in TX – closest to FL! We ordered gravel, gray geese, Atlantic, beaver, knight and white collar. Will let you know what our painter says about the quality.

Jeff Lewis announced today that his paint collection is now available at Home Depot! Very excited.
Cyndy says
This is fantastic news Lise!! Thank you so much for telling me and I immediately went and found the announcement! I can’t thank you enough for telling me! I’m so thrilled because I really think his colors are the most amazing and I have been dying to try! Thanks girl!
patti says
Hey does anyone know where us East Coast Jeff Lewis lovers can write to to let them know we want the paint in our Home Depot and lowes stores too?
Cyndy says
I am assuming that with the announcement that the paint is going to carried at Home Depot that it would include all stores nationwide. I don’t have all the details yet but I am assuming its nationwide.
Jami says
I love the new paint colors, but I’m in Michigan! 🙁 Jeff is an awesome designer-the only one I would give free decorating reign in my home! He’s a handful, but he puts his heart and soul into his work. Come to Michigan please, Jeff Lewis colors!!
Nicki Herman says
Hello, I ran across your site softer researching the Jeff Lewis paint colors. I was trying to determine what others have said about his paints and how they compare to paints like Sherwin Williams and Valspar just to name a few. Now that they are being carried in Home Depot (YEA)!! I am going to go today and pick my color for my up and coming redesigned living room! I wondered if you have tried these paints anywhere and how you think they compare. I am the biggest Jeff and Gage fan of all time, my husband and I are true Bravo Couch Critics. I can’t wait to use his products and see how they look, WISH ME LUCK!!!!!
Thanks for such a great site, best of luck to you,
Nicki Herman
