Things have been so crazy for me and my family the last six weeks that I haven’t had a whole lot of time to deck our halls for Christmas. I over-committed {as usual} and finally this weekend, I turned off my cell phone and shut down the computer and pulled out the Christmas spirit and fluffed.
I’m not done with the decorating yet and hope to be finishing up today but I thought I would share a few pictures of what I have done so far. I had grand plans this year to share tons of holiday decorating ideas and inspiration with you back in November but the time got away from me. Maybe there are a couple of you out there still looking for a few last minute decorating ideas. Hopefully something that I share today will give you an idea or two.
I love my traditional Christmas wreath on my front door. I made it last year and loved it so much that I didn’t change a thing this year:
I really like to try and mix natural elements into my Christmas decor whether its on my front door or throughout my home. Â I think it balances the bling. Â For this wreath, I mixed Spanish moss, pine cones and deer sheds with the Joy sign, tartan plaid ribbon and crystal sprigs. Â I also found this beautiful pheasant that I wired into the center of the wreath. It drives my bird dog nuts! She thinks its real and she goes on point every time she sees it.
Every Christmas, I bring in one of my decorative garden urns and decorate a small artificial tree to make a large centerpiece on my dining room table.
I love to fill this tree with all of our delicate ornaments that are too small for our big tree and I also mix in some of the antique ornaments that are so special to me that belonged to my Grandmother:
I just love these little porcelain bells and I only have six of them so I have spread them throughout this smaller tree. Â I think of my Grandmother every time I look at this tree.
My entry way is my favorite room to decorate for the holidays because I love the rich chocolate leather wall, so greens and metallics really pop in this space. Â I used my large tree cone template to make a moss covered topiary and attached a little wreath I made by wrapping pearl and gold sprigs:
I also attached a garland to my entry table and mixed pearls, golds and silver mercury glass ornaments:
I also managed to get a few presents wrapped this weekend and this year I wanted to use white paper:
As for big tree and mantle in my living room, I’m still finishing that up and will share pictures with you when its ready but I did add a couple things to the kitchen. Â I added my favorite metal reindeer to the center of my kitchen table:
I have to tell you, these metal reindeer have been spray painted almost every color imaginable over the years! They have been inside and outside and on almost every table in my home and I just love them and I love that each year I can just add a new finish. Although, I won’t be able to light these guys up in the house, they are a torch when they are lit.
The last thing I added to the kitchen again this year are my favorite set of fabric covered poster board tree cones that I made three years ago:
I can’t believe how well these trees have held up in my attic year after year! If you’re interested in making your own set of fabric covered cone trees, you can find out more about the downloadable templates/pattern that I am now selling in my online shop by going here.
I am feeling much better now that our home is getting that Christmas spirit. I have several Christmas projects ready for posting this week, so check back soon! Have a wonderful week friends!!
Cheers!
Cyndy
