Happy November friends!!
For this month’s free Printable of the Month, I created a fun chalkboard placemat that is perfect for kids during holiday gatherings. I will forever be the adult child at the kid’s table, so I wanted to create something that would be pretty enough for the holiday table but would be fun for us “kids” too. Â Just give the kid’s a little chalk and a mini chalkboard eraser or napkin and they are good to go.
There is no special type of ink needed for the chalkboard because you can write with chalk on black ink and it looks just like a chalkboard!
I have created two sizes a legal size {8.5″ x 14″} and a letter size {8.5″ x 11} for you to choose from. Â The legal size is really ideal (standard placemat size) but if you have limited space at your holiday table, you do have the option to choose the smaller size but keep in mind that the chalk area is much smaller. These placemats would work for Christmas or any family gathering too, not just Thanksgiving.
**** update 11/4/12 – I just added the Christmas placemat too as an option.
Please keep in mind that I created these printables are for personal use only. Â It is ok to share an image and a link to my project if you want to share this project on your blog.

I hope you can use these fun placemats. Â A quick tip… If you want to create a fine writing tip on your chalk for pretty writing, all you have to do is sharpen with a pencil sharpener:
Thank you to Mel from the fabulous blog Mel Stampz for the fabulous chevron background!
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend friends and if you happened to miss October’s printable {Halloween Tags and Labels} you can go to that post here.
Cheers!

Not sure if it is just me, but on the 11″ x 14″ the knife is cutting into the scallop on the PDF…I don’t know if you can fix that or not?
Thank you for the placemats, very cute!

Thanks Karen. I do not have an 11 x 14 size? I have an 8.5 x 14 legal size. I was having trouble with the legal size printing out on legal size paper so I have uploaded the file to Scribd. Now when you click on file, it will take you there and everything will print out perfectly. Thanks!

It’s working for me. What kind of problem are you having? You do have to sign in to Scribd or register (for free) to be able to download from their site. Is the problem that it’s asking you to sign on/register? Thanks for letting me know.

My sister just tweeted asking for a placemat suggestion and I found this. I recommended and also pinned it. Thanks! I’d love to have you join my Pin Me Linky Party because this is an awesome idea!

Hii, firstable I wanted to say what a great idea 🙂 I really like it………. only…… the knife is facing wrong side :/ the sharp side you cut with should face the plate O:) (at least you placed it on the right side… you’d be surprised how many people have no clue where to put any of those…. haha)
Cyndy says
Thank you Chris! Actually, I was aware of it but I couldn’t find clip art that faced that direction 🙂 I was hoping that no one would noticed but you would be surprised at how many people have taken the time to email me in the last year that the knife (in my sweet little kids placemat that took me hours to create and share with everyone) is incorrect and facing the wrong direction.
