Utah Valley Parade of Homes 2019

I just returned from the 2019 Utah Valley Parade of Homes and I am so excited to share with you guys a recap of the tour and all of the beautiful design ideas and home trends that I saw. I didn’t think it was possible to top last year’s UV Valley Parade of Homes but these amazing home builders and inspiring designers did just that! This year was absolutely incredible and loaded with some of the freshest design ideas that I have ever seen. I came away so inspired and had the pleasure of visiting in depth with many of the builders and designers. I am so excited to share it all with you guys!

Before I jump into everything, I toured 31 of the homes and took a lot of pictures so I will have to break down my recap down into two posts do the pictures will load. You can find “Part 2” of my recap here.

The Utah Valley is one of the fastest growing areas in the country with so much new home construction going on that it’s really a great way to see the freshest home design trends. If you’re looking to build or simply remodel/redecorate a room a two in your home, you will for sure find lots of ideas and inspiration from these parade homes.

The very first house I toured ended up being one of my favorites. I was especially excited to see it because it was designed by a design blogger friend of mine Becki Owens.  This modern industrial home was built by Split Rock Custom Homes and is nestled into a mountain in the Summit Creek community with the most beautiful views I think I have ever seen! By the way, this house is for sale if you live in the Utah Valley area.

If you look closely at the left side of the view of the patio below, you can see that the view overlooks all of Utah Valley!

 

It was no surprise at all that Becki did an incredible job designing this amazing home. She kept it light, airy and cozy with stunning design elements and textures.  The builder did a fantastic job of incorporating oversized windows in every room to take advantage of the beautiful views and bring in as much natural light as possible. Imagine this view below during the winter when everything is covered in snow!

 

While I fell in love with the whole home, I especially loved the kitchen and the mix of natural wood and white cabinetry.

 

Most of the homes that I saw on this year’s tour had the two-toned mix of wood and painted cabinetry, which is such a beautiful combination.

There were so many little details that I spotted in this home.  In the bathrooms, I loved the wood planked ceilings, oak cabinetry balanced with white subway tile.  By the way, I saw quite a bit of black tiled floors during the tour including matte black hexagon (like the bathroom below) and various versions of black slate tile.

 

In the small powder room, I loved the above mount stone sink! Really beautiful!

In yet another bathroom, the cement tile patterned floor really added beauty and drama. Patterned cement tile floors continue to be popular this year during the tour and a great way to add a pop of drama to a bathroom.

This home really took my breath away and I can’t wait to share more of this home in a couple weeks with you guys.

Next up is another jaw dropping home nestled into a mountain high up above the Utah Valley. This next home that I toured was located in Alpine, Utah and was built by Patterson Homes. It was designed by Brandalyn Designs.

I really loved the evolved modern farmhouse-ish architecture exterior of this home but with the mix of stucco and limestone instead of traditional board and batten.  Limestone was the biggest trends that I picked up on during this year’s tour and I was amazed how many builders this year incorporated limestone inside and on the exterior. This makes me happy because limestone is very popular where I live in Texas because it’s so easy to get here. In fact, I used a lot of limestone on my outdoor kitchen.

 

Normally the limestone that I usually see in Texas is a little whiter in color than what was used on this home but I think this particular stone has more iron in it and I’m sure it depends on where the stone is mined. I am so curious to find out where this stone came from. I like the warmer tone.

Just to compare and show you color differences, below is the whiter limestone on my outdoor fireplace.

The view from the front of this home is insane! It overlooks all of Utah Valley! By the way, this home is also for sale if you live in the Utah Valley area. Below is the view from the front of the home. Notice that you can see Utah Lake in the distance as well from this spot!

 

This is the view to the side of the home that you see from the porch. If I were going to build a home in the area, this is the exact area I would want to be. The views are breathtaking!

The design work in this home was also so beautiful and inspiring! Brandalyn designed one of my favorite homes last year in the parade that I recapped here.

 

This home also had beautiful oversized windows and a lot of natural light.

I loved that they used the same limestone in the home on the fireplace. I was really inspired by the mix of brick cut and narrow linear cut.  It’s such a beautiful stone.

The paint colors that Brandalyn selected throughout the home are so fresh and inspiring. In the master suite, the dark rich grid accent wall took my breath away! Brandalyn let me know that the accent wall color is Sherwin Williams Peppercorn. Accent walls continue to big another big trend that I saw in almost every home. I saw everything from dark painted shiplap accent walls to patterned grids like this.

 

Accent walls painted in these dark moody colors are such a great way to add that moody drama to a space without painting the whole room and keeping it light and airy. In fact, I shared some inspiring accent walls and paint colors here if you’re looking for more accent wall inspiration.

This whole master bedroom inspired me so much! The mix of light textures, shiplap ceiling, natural wood and the fabric patterns really spoke to me. Below is the wall opposite the bed where you can see the light wall color used on the rest of the walls and white shiplap ceiling. The drapes throughout this home were custom made and were so pretty. The neutral wall color is a gorgeous selection and it’s Sherwin Williams Colonnade.

The kitchen was also one of my favorite kitchens throughout the whole tour. I just thought it was livable, beautiful and not too stuffy or formal.

I really loved the mix of open and closed shelving in this kitchen and how well laid out out it is.  Great kitchen for entertaining! I also loved the shiny chrome accents in the mix, especially the pendant lights. Really pretty combination!  I saw a lot of shiny chrome in kitchens/baths this tour. In my opinion, chrome is just timeless.

 

Again, I don’t have confirmation of the cabinetry color but the gray color is very close to Benjamin Moore Pigeon Gray. I have a message into Brandalyn to confirm colors in this beautiful home and will update when I hear back from her.

 

The builder told me that the beautiful floors throughout the home are an engineered wide-plank oak.

 

The office off of the entry in this home was painted the most beautiful shade of dark rich blue/gray. The color is Sherwin Williams Grays Harbor.  I loved that they also painted the cabinetry the same color for added drama.

 

Such a beautiful home and it ended up being one of my favorites!

Next up on the tour was this stunning custom home built by one of my favorite Utah builders; Raykon Construction. I just recently featured one of Raykon’s homes that I toured last year here and this was another home that I was really excited to see because Raykon is such an innovative custom home builder in the Utah area.  This home was designed by Four Chairs Furniture and Design. Another fantastic design firm located in the Utah Valley area.

The exterior of this 11,582 square foot home is a combination of stucco and (again) white limestone. The black window frames add such beautiful contrast.

 

On a side note, one of the coolest trends I saw this year during the tour was these built in Christmas LED lights.  They are programed with an app on the phone and have several different color and blinking combinations. Isn’t that so smart?!  I love the idea of not having to hang and take down lights each Christmas.

 

 

The side of the home was smooth limestone and I was drooling when I saw it mixed with the natural wood garage doors and black exterior lighting.  This combination is so pretty!

Another special treat on the exterior of the Raykon home was this beautiful side door that I think led into the mudroom. This dreamy door color is Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray.

They also used Boothbay Gray on the main double door entry.  So gorgeous mixed with the limestone.

I spent over two hours in the inside of the Raykon home talking with the builder Casey and finding out more about this project because there was so much goodness to see. It was such an inspiring home and I’ll be sharing the full home tour in a couple weeks because I took so many pictures.

The kitchen in this home was huge! Again, we see another kitchen with a mix of open and closed shelving. By the way, the main color throughout the home and on the cabinetry in the kitchen is Benjamin Moore White Dove.

 

I was seriously drooling over the solid marble slab backsplash and countertops!

Directly behind the kitchen was a long galley large butlers pantry. I was drooling over that too! Just look at all that extra closed storage!

My favorite room in the home was the combination laundry/office space. Of course it was huge but I really fell in love with the cabinetry color, the layout, the tile and the beautiful accents. This is really amazing design work right here!

That beautiful cabinetry paint color is Farrow and Ball Light Blue #22. The countertops are Cosmos Taj Mahal in a leathered pattern.

Talk about a dream laundry room!

 

The floors throughout the Raykon home are solid French oak Tripoli hardwoods. They were so breathtaking in person!

 

Lastly, the pool bath was another favorite room of mine. I don’t have confirmation of the cabinetry paint color but I really loved it mixed with the tile around the mirror.

I can’t wait to share more of this amazing home with you guys in a few weeks. Raykon and Four Chairs did such incredible work on this home.
